What is Boondocking?
Boondocking is not really a good term, but has somehow come into common use. Dry Camping (parking anywhere without or with limited amenities) is more accurate. Independent Parking is the preferred term. It means that you are prepared to dry camp but, make use of amenities when they’re available.
Is Boondocking Legal?
Yes Boondocking is legal but be sure to check the city or state ordinance to be sure as some cities don’t allow it.
Can you Boondock in National Parks?
A few US National Parks allow overnight RV parking and boondocking, but generally camping is restricted to established campgrounds. USFS (United States Forest Service) and BLM (Bureau of Land Management) high popularity areas often have restricted access camping areas.
